War card Game - How to Play War card Game

How to play war? This game requires two player and anyone above the age of three can be part of it. The winner will be declared when one of the player will be able to win all the 52 cards. The deck as mentioned a total of 52 cards. The game starts by dividing those cards evenly in two sets of 26 among the players. The cards are not shown as yet rather put face down up front. Any of the player can kick off the game. A player has to pick up one card at a time. One of them who has the higher card will take both the cards. The cards are then put underneath the stack of cards faced downwards.
It is declared War when the cards come with same ranks. Both of the player will now have one face down card and one face up card. The player who has the cards with higher ranks will take the the two piles which are six cards. In the next if the cards again come out to be of the similar rank then this time as well there will be one card faced upwards and one downwards. The player who gets cards with higher ranks will take all the cards. This remains the mode of play untill the winner is declared with one having win all the cards.

What is the significance of War cards?

War had been part of the human history since ever. It has played havoc but also brought many successes and heroes. People have been looking for various ways to pay tribute to their war heroes who have been working hard to bring peace to them.and even sacrificing their lives. War cards were also an attempt to commemorate the efforts of those who have been part of war for a bigger cause. There hadn’t been a single version of the War cards but with times each war had different heroes printed on them to know about their victories, leaders, battles, conflicts and even enemies. The 1819 card deck can be marked among the oldest ones which show the court cards of John Quincy, Andrew Jackson, Jefferson and Washington of Philadelphia as Kings. 1898 cards deck were supplier to the troops with themed Spanish American War deck from the NY Consolidated Card Company.
It was 1916 and the World War I when the Allied Armies were featured in a deck by a Montreal company. The cards had flags of the Allied European Army with actual monarchs as Kings and queens on them. The United States Playing Card Compnany generated four versions of cards in 1918 featuring all the four battlestations, Tank Corp, Air Corp, Navy and Artillery.
Among all of them the famous deck of cards have been the one made in 1966 by the United States Playing Card Company upon the request of two US lieutenant. In the card the Spade symbol were used for Viet Cong because they were very superstitious of it. The cards also had an interesting part which was able to be peeled off in order to educate the Prisoners of War and the general public with the Airctaft Spotter Deck.
These cards gained so much public appreciation that they have now become an artifact and collecting it adds value to the existing pile.
