Did you know that you can round numbers in Excel to the nearest tenth? While some people use the built-in Rounding feature, there are times when you may want more control over your rounding so you can manually round any number to the nearest tenth. There are different ways to do this depending on your situation and how advanced you’d like to be, but you don’t need to be an Excel expert to get it done. Enter the number you want to round in a cell

In order to round a number in excel, first you must enter the number you want to round into a cell. Next highlight the cells with numbers to be rounded and click on the format tab on the top of your screen.

From there select number from the drop-down menu and then choose two decimal places. This will automatically round up or down to two decimal places.

You can also round to even numbers or down to hundredths by choosing that option from your format drop-down menu. You can also change how many decimal places you want to show as well.

If you are rounding a number less than .5, you can choose to round up or down by highlighting those cells and clicking on format, then number, then choosing two decimal places. Or, if you do not want any decimals shown at all, click on number and then choose no decimals.

You can also highlight your cells and click on format, then check number. This will ensure that each number is formatted correctly so you can tell at a glance whether or not it’s a whole number. If you use whole numbers in excel, you can format your numbers to be automatically adjusted to account for decimals.

Click on format and then select number, choose two decimal places, then click ok. Next, highlight all of your numbers including decimals and click on format again.

You can change whether or not your decimal places are rounded up or down and whether or not there is a zero placed in front of each number. You can also choose if you want commas between thousands or if you prefer no decimals at all. This allows you to choose how your numbers will appear on screen, as well as how they’ll print out.

Let’s go back to cell D4 and try it out. Add a period after your number (1) then enter it into Excel and you will see that it automatically rounds it to one decimal place. This method is helpful when you need to round a large amount of numbers at once.
