What is Cryptocurrency Affiliate Marketing?

Are you passionate about Cryptocurrency to the point that you want to tell everyone about it? Do your friends and family roll their eyes and say ‘here we go again…’ every time you raise the subject? If so, Crypto Currency Affiliate Marketing could be for you.

If earning an extra (or full-time) income from sharing what you know about your passion sounds interesting, then read on.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is the process of recommending a product or service through content you have created either in a blog or through video content. If your audience goes on to then click on your unique link, you earn a commission. (This post focuses on the blog option.)

The beauty of affiliate marketing is that you have no part in the supply of the product or service, nor do you have to worry about customer service - that is all taken care of by the business you are promoting.

How do you find products or services to recommend?

Simply search on Google for ‘Cryptocurrency Affiliate Programs and you will find lots of blogs with lists of suggested programs along with what their strong points are. You will also find actual individual programs listed.

You then apply to join as an affiliate for that program and receive an individual link that registers you as the source, so that you will receive the agreed percentage commission when someone makes a purchase.

How do you get started?

As you will need a website the first thing to do is register a domainname. A domain name costs around $14.99 to register for one year. You will also need web hosting which you can get from around $2.95 per month.

If you shop around, you will find some web hosting services offer one-year free domain registration. As you will need both, you may as well take up this offer.

There will be a box for you to put in your proposed domain name to see if it is available. If it’s not available there will be suggestions of similar alternatives.

Your domain name should be fairly short, easy to spell, and ideally include ‘keyword’ i.e. a word that describes what your content will be about. Steer away from the name of an actual coin because there may be restrictions on use of a name.

Building your website

I would recommend building your website with Wordpress.com. The top bloggers, businesses and Fortune 500 companies use wordpress. It has SEO built into the system and automatically creates title tags and meta tags which let search engines discover your content.

It’s free unless you want to choose one of the paid themes but there are lots of super free ones. Go for something that is easy to read and navigate rather than something fancy.

Creating Content

The first pages to start off with are your ‘About Me’ and ‘Privacy Policy’ pages. In ‘About Me’ you should share your story and your aims for your website / blog. If you search Google for ‘Privacy Policy for websites’ you will find some examples you can copy.

Reviews of products and services

When creating your actual blog posts, think about the sort of questions your audience will be asking. The bulk of your content should be ‘How to….’ and reviews of products and services relevant to your market.

If you can solve the problems of your followers, for example, as seen in How To Invest In Cryptocurrency, you will build trust and they will be more likely to buy some of your recommendations (using your link) over time.

Google

Before putting pen to paper, however, you should do some keyword research. A keyword is the search term that someone is likely to be entering into Google. There are several ways of doing this. One is to type your main term into Google and see what words follow it. For example I just tried typing in ‘cryptocurrency’ and a list came up with the words ‘blogging’, ‘news’, ‘mining’, ‘trading’, ‘exchange’, ‘wallet’.

Then if you scroll down the page to the bottom you will find ‘related search terms’ which will also show you what people are searching for. The only trouble with this approach is that you don’t know how many people are searching for it and what your chances are of ranking against the competition.

Cons of Affiliate Marketing

  • You will need to learn to build a website, how to find keywords, how to create content (unless you are already adept at some or all of these)
  • It takes time. For the first 6 months at least you will see very little traffic because Google does not trust new websites.

Conclusion

With more and more people seeking information about alternatives to fiat currency, this would be a great time to get into Cryptocurrency Affiliate Marketing. If you are new to affiliate marketing it will take time and patience, but that time will pass anyway and you could be building something that will really contribute to others and indeed to your own future income.
