What do you know about the mid-range speaker and its structure?

As its name suggests, the Mid-range speaker covers the middle-frequency spectrum part. Usually, the midrange speaker manufacturer makes sure that it covers the range from 500 Hz and 4 kHz. This portion of the sound spectrum is the most important. As it is very audible, and it’s most instruments and the different human voices are positioned. However, the human ear is very sensitive to mid-range frequency. Therefore, the driver needs to keep it on low power, it provides good sound in terms of sound quality and volume.

Sound systems that incorporate tweeter and woofer both, drivers have mid-range speakers. The midrange reproduction frequencies should audio natural and uncolored with tremendous detail, avoid sounding too forward or too bright or dull. If a midrange speaker output is not clear, musical vocals and spoken dialogue is unnatural or imperceptible. It is of serious importance to every piece of sound and home theatre sound content. The driver’s nature on both the mid-range sides and the mid-range speaker itself affects the crossover frequency and slope selection. The structure of the midrange speaker

Mid-range speaker drivers are cone types or compression horn drivers or dome types. The cone mid-range unit radiating diaphragm is a truncated cone, with a voice coil with the spider portion of the speaker suspension, and with the cone frame at the wide end. Cone mid-range speaker drivers usually resemble small woofers. The most common mid-range speaker cones material is paper. It is surface-treated with polymers occasionally or pitches to improve vibrational damping.

Other cone midrange speaker manufacturer includes plastic materials such as polypropylene, Codex, woven Kevlar, carbon fiber, fiberglass, or light metal alloys based on aluminum, titanium, magnesium, or other metal alloys. The radiating surface of a dome mid-range speaker is a 90-degree sphere section. The speaker material is metal, cloth, or plastic film, with its system suspension and voice coil co-located at the outer dome edge. Most of the professional concert mid-range speakers are compression drivers with horns. A few mid-ranges are also electrostatic drivers, ribbon drivers, planar magnetic drivers.
