Most household applications are intended for domestic use: clothing and dishwashers are made with a built-in check valve or device suitable for Category 3 fluids. As domestic applications are defined as Category 3 liquids (Table G6. 1C), no further flow measurements are required.
Even if it were a real drain pipe and siphon, if there was still sewage left and WM was the lowest device in the DWV system, the raw water would overflow from the open pipe (where the pipe falls on it).
Backflow preventers are used to isolate the boiler and prevent backflow in the event of a pressure drop. Backflow from a clogged sink into a dishwasher doesn’t block the supply line, but it can fill the dishwasher with dirty water. A dishwasher may have a simple valve in the drain.

The washing machine drain hose has an outside diameter of 1¼. (Outer diameter). The drain hose must be at least 30 ° high so that no water forms. For the drain hose to work properly, the drain must be at least 30 cm from the floor and less than 2 meters high.
To remove a washer gasket, try plugging in the drain line and pour hot water down the drain to release the soap and foam. For stubborn obstructions, push a drain hose through the drain. Rotate the handle clockwise as you lower it if you feel a gasket catching dirt and allowing you to pull it out.
The wash pump pushes the water from the bottom of the machine into the drain hose. The drain hose is routed to the top of the machine and then into the drain so that the tub can be filled. When the water reaches the elbow, it comes out of the drain.
If your washing machine drain fits the drain properly, then you definitely need a washer vent. Allows air to pass through, preventing the possibility of a vacuum buildup that can interfere with the water leaking out of the washing machine.
The washing machines are emptied into a so-called riser pipe. A riser tube is a piece of vertical tube with an arch at the bottom. The elbow remains filled with water and prevents exhaust gases from flowing back into the bathroom.
The air gap is the most effective way to prevent the drain from going through the dishwasher with the garbage. To protect your dishwasher from flooding with contaminated water, you need an air gap. The air gap in the dishwasher is also required by health regulations in many places.
Bosch: The tall ring of the dishwasher’s drain hose prevents water from entering the hose if it is hanging or lying flat. This will keep the drain hose dry and prevent odors from entering the dishwasher.
A filter / siphon / dish drainer clogged with pieces of food in the dishwasher is the main reason why water remains at the bottom of the dishwasher. At the end of the wash cycle there must never be water in the dishwasher. At the end of the cycle, the dirty water is pumped out during the drain cycle.
In any case, it is important to check local building and plumbing codes before installing a new dishwasher. In some areas a high cycle is the minimum requirement, but in many other countries it is necessary to install an air gap in all new dishwashers.
It is not a valve, it is a vacuum switch. An air gap in the dishwasher line is intended to prevent dirty water from a rinsed sink from entering the dishwasher and contaminating the clean dishes. You don’t need unsightly air spaces protruding from the sofa, but the drain should be ventilated.
