Tysabri can weaken the immune system (the body’s defense against disease). Tysabri can therefore also increase the risk of infection. These include: Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a type of severe brain infection.
So far, however, no drug has been found that can slow the progression of PMS (or restore function). For example, a study with Tysabri (natalizumab) did not show that the drug slows the development of PMSC patients who have not relapsed in the past two years.
