**Hobbit** is a film series consisting of three adventure series, it is an imaginary race of half-sized persons in Tolkien hence ~RY n. invented by J.R.R. Tolkien, Engl. Writer d. 1973, and said by him to mean ‘hole-builder.’ It is directed by Peter Jackson. The three films are _The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey_ released in 2012, _The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug_ released in 2013, and _The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies_ released in 2014.

_ **The Hobbit** _ is a movie series consisting of three high fiction events. They are basically based on the 1937 book The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien, with liberal portions of the trilogy motivated by the letters to The Return of the King, which stretch on the story _The Hobbit_ , as well as casts written mainly for the movies. Altogether they work as a prequel to Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The movie was subtitled An Unexpected Journey published in 2012 The Desolation of Smaug published in 2013, and The Battle of the Five Armies published in 2014.

**Production:**

The film evolution of J. R. R. Tolkien’s novel The Hobbit (1937) was in progression for many years after the commercial and critical success of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003), co-produced, co-written and directed by Peter Jackson. Jackson was initially going to create a two-film evolution of The Hobbit which was to be directed by Guillermo Del Toro. Del Toro left the agreement in May 2010, after almost two years of struggling with Jackson and his production company due to some lags caused in part by financial problems at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. In October, Jackson was announced as a director.

The Hobbit films were produced consecutively, like The Lord of the Rings films. The leading photogrammetry for The Hobbit films was created on 21 March 2011, in New Zealand and desisted on 6 July 2012, after 266 days of filming. Work on the film was supposed to be performed on 26 November, just three days before the film’s Wellington premiere. Peter Jackson would later said that Del Toro’s sudden exit created problems as he felt he had a short time or preparation, which led to him shooting films with unfinished lines.

**The cast of the film:**

The movie consists a whole cast that involves Aidan Turner, Ken Stott, James Nesbit, Dean O’Gorman, Billy Connolly, Graham McTavish, Peter Hambleton, John Callen, Mark Hadlow, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, William Kircher, Stephen Hunter, Antony Sher, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans and Lee Pace, with many actors reprising their roles from The Lord of the Rings, including Cate Blanchett, Lan Holm, Orlando Bloom, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Andy Serkis and Elijah Wood. The movie features John Tui, Manu Bennett, Conan Stevens, Ryan Gage, Sylvester McCoy, Stephen Fry, John Bell, Mikael Persbrandt, Lawrence Makoare and Barry Humphries. Among others returning for production were illustrators Alan Lee and John Howe, art director Dan Hennah, composer Howard Shore and cinematographer Andrew Lesnie, while props were crafted by Weta Workshop with visual effects managed by Weta Digital.

The journey takes Bilbo on a path through dangerous lands swarmed with orcs, goblins, and other dangers, not least of which is an appointment with Gollum (Andy Serkis) and a single gold ring that is connected to the end of Middle Earth in ways Bilbo cannot even fathom.
