Introduction
Sultan Kösen (born December 10, 1982) is a Turkish farmer who, at 251 cm, owns the Guinness World Record for the tallest living male (8 ft 2.82 in). Kösen’s acromegaly was caused by a tumour in his pituitary gland, which induced gigantism and acromegaly. He walks with crutches due to his illness. He is the seventh tallest man in history, having been born to a Kurdish family in the southeastern city of Mardin.
Biography
Kösen was born in Mardin, a city in southeastern Turkey, and is of ethnic Kurdish origin… Because of his height, Kösen was unable to complete his studies and instead worked part-time as a farmer. He cites the benefits of being tall as being able to see a long distance and being able to assist his family with household chores like changing light bulbs and hanging drapes. He complains about not being able to locate clothes or shoes that fit his legs, which measure 126 centimeters (49.61 in) and his arms, which have a sleeve length of 97 centimeters (38.19 in), as well as finding it impossible to fit into an average-sized car. Kösen began in 2010.
Records
Kösen’s standing height was recorded by Guinness World Records on August 25, 2009, in his home country, at 246.4 cm (8 ft 1 in), surpassing former world record holder Bao Xishun, who stands 236.1 cm (7 foot 8+1516 in). Kösen also holds the Guinness World Record for the largest hands, measuring 27.5 cm (10.78 in), and the second largest feet, measuring 36.5 cm (14.38 in) (left foot) and 35.5 cm (14 in) (right foot) (right foot). Doctors validated a height of up to 254.3 cm (8 ft 4+18 in) on August 25, 2010, according to the University of Virginia, which indicated that this could represent Kösen’s actual height, artificially decreased by scoliosis and improper posture. Kösen was renamed on February 9, 2011.
Sultan Kösen: Tallest living man
Sultan Kösen broke the record for being the first man over 8 feet to be measured by Guinness World Records in more than 20 years in 2009. Throughout fact, according to Guinness World Records, there have only been ten documented or reliable occurrences of anyone reaching a height of 8 feet or higher in history. The part-time Turkish farmer was discovered to be a towering 246.5 cm (8 ft 1 in) tall, earning him the title of Tallest Living Man. Two years later, in Ankara, Turkey, the 26-year-old was measured again, this time at an astonishing 251 cm (8 ft 2.8 in).
Growing up
Sultan was born on December 10, 1982, but his extraordinary growth spurt didn’t begin until he was ten years old. His parents and four siblings, on the other hand, are all of ordinary height. Sultan’s unusual growth and huge height is due to a disorder known as “pituitary gigantism,” which is caused by an excess of growth hormone in the pituitary gland. The pituitary gland in the brain releases growth hormone; if the gland is injured by a tumour, for example, it may release too much (or too little) hormone. Large hands, bone thickening, and aching joints are all side effects of overproduction. Sultan was never able to finish school because of his enormous size.
Breaking records
“I never anticipated I would be in the book, I fantasised about it, but it was still a great surprise,” Sultan stated at the time of his induction into the Guinness World Records family.
Sultan also holds the record for the largest hands ever seen on a living individual, measuring 28.5 cm (11.22 in) from wrist to ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ tip. With his left foot measuring 36.5 cm (1 ft 2 in) and right foot measuring 35.5 cm (1 ft 2 in), he previously held the record for the largest feet on a live person (1 ft 1.98 in).
10 Tallest People in History
Hugely tall men and women have been reported throughout history, but medical answers for the anomaly have only been discovered in the last few hundred years. Pituitary gigantism, Marfan syndrome, eunuchoid tallness, Sotos syndrome, and acromegaly are just a few of the disorders that can cause someone to grow faster than normal. The most common cause of high height is pituitary gigantism. Oversecretion of growth hormone from cells in the pituitary gland or a tumour on this gland at the base of the brain are the most common causes. Many of the world’s tallest people, from Robert Wadlow, the world’s tallest person ever, to S.
Brahim Takioullah – 8 ft 1 in (2 m 46 cm)
Brahim Takioullah, together with Iranian Morteza Mehrzad, is the world’s joint second-tallest living human. Takioullah also holds the Guinness World Record for having the “world’s largest feet on a live person” (and the second largest in history) with a length of almost 15 inches. Takioullah was born in Morocco in 1982, and his massive size is the result of a pituitary tumour. Takioullah’s human growth hormone levels have skyrocketed as a result of the tumour, and the effects are visible to all. The Moroccan giant’s ailment was discovered when he was 18 years old, when a school doctor suggested he get a blood test because of his “unique” height.
Don Koehler – 8 ft 2 in (2 m 49 cm)
Don Koehler, a giant from Denton, Montana, grew to an astounding height of 8 ft 2 in. His growth was normal until he was ten years old, when he began to expand at an alarming rate. From 1969 to 1981, he held the record for being the world’s tallest man. When Koehler stayed in hotel rooms, he had to connect two double beds together; he had trouble finding a place to reside with a high enough ceiling (and no hanging light fixtures); and he bumped his head when he had a cold. The 29-inch gap between Koehler and his twin sister, who was just 5 ft 9 in tall, was a Guinness World Record. Koehler suffered from kyphosi towards the end of his life.
Vikas Uppal – 8 ft 3 in (2 m 51 cm) (Contested)
Little is known about Indian giant Vikas Uppal’s brief life, and his claim to be the world’s tallest man is debatable. He was born in Haryana’s Rohtak area in 1986 and was never officially measured by Guinness World Records. Uppal was 8ft 3in tall and still growing when he was measured in his late teens, according to the Indian newspaper The Tribune. Rediff.com, an Indian news and entertainment website, claims to have measured Uppal in 2005 and reported that he was 8ft 10in tall, making him the world’s second tallest person. Other sources indicate he was 8ft 9in tall, however his official height is 8ft 3in. Despite the disagreement, Uppal unfortunately died during the operation.
Bernard Coyne – 8 ft 2 in (2 m 49 cm)
Bernard A. Coyne was born on July 27, 1897, in Anthon, Iowa. He had eunuchoidal infantile gigantism, often known as daddy-longlegs syndrome, which is an incredibly rare disorder.
The exact height of Coyne at the time of his death is unknown. He was already 8 feet tall in 1918, according to his WWI registration card, when he was just 21 years old. Coyne was 8 ft 2 in tall when he died in 1921 at the age of 23, while some reports claim he could have been as tall as 8 ft 4 in. Regardless, Coyne is one of only a few people taller over 8 feet in recorded medical history. However, in his early twenties, his life was brutally cut short. Coyne’s fiction.
Sultan Kasen – 8 ft 3 in (2 m 51 cm)
Sultan Kasen, a Turkish part-time farm labourer, is the world’s tallest living male, standing at 8 ft 3 in. Kasen’s illness, like that of many others on this list, is caused by a tumour in his pituitary gland that has been related to acromegaly. And, like Koehler, Kasen grew at a regular rate until he was ten years old, when he suddenly grew to be over six feet tall. Due to his towering height and requirement for crutches, the enormous Turk was unable to complete his education. In 2008, a procedure to remove Kasen’s tumour was deemed to be effective, but it failed to stop his fast growth rate. Because the tumour was buried so deeply in Kasen’s body, he died in 2010.
Edouard Beaupra – 8 ft 3 in (2 m 51 cm)
Edouard Beaupr was born in 1881 in Saskatchewan, Canada, and grew to an extraordinary height of 8 feet 3 inches. Beaupr wanted to be a cowboy as a kid, but when he turned 17 and learned he could lift an 800-pound horse, he may have changed his mind. Beaupr joined Barnum and Bailey’s Circus as a strongman and circus freak when he was 21 years old.
Lifting large horses and wrestling one of the world’s strongest men, Louis Cyr, were among the achievements of the French Canadian giant. During the wrestling battle, he barely dared to touch his opponent, allowing Cyr to win. Beaupr had to suffer for his art on occasion, and he once shattered his leg while lifting a 900-pound weight.
Vin Myllyrinne – 8 ft 3 in (2 m 51 cm)
Vin Myllyrinne was born in 1909 in Helsinki, Finland, and by the age of 21 he had grown to be 7 ft 3.4 in tall. Furthermore, in his late thirties, he experienced a second growth spurt, and at the time of his death in 1963, he was a towering 8 ft 3 in - much like Kasen and Beaupr.
Myllyrinne was a member of the Finnish Defence Forces and is regarded as the world’s tallest soldier. He was also named the eleventh greatest Finn by local TV show Suuret Suomalaiset, mostly as a result of a humorous Internet campaign. The Finnish colossus had acromegaly, a condition that causes gigantism and excessive growth. From 1940 to 1940, Myllyrinne was verified as the world’s tallest living male.
John F. Carroll – 8 ft 7.5 in (2 m 63 cm)
John Carroll, who was born in Buffalo, New York in 1932, was dubbed the “Buffalo Giant” in medical journals. Carroll’s extraordinary growth spurt began when he was 16, and it continued until his death in 1969. He apparently grew seven inches in a short of months at one time! Carroll had acromegalic gigantism and endured a lot in his short life, especially when it came to his spine: he had a serious form of kyphoscoliosis, or two-dimensional spinal curvature. In fact, Carroll’s spine curvature was so severe that precisely measuring him was nearly impossible. Carroll was 7 ft 8.75 in tall when he died in 1968, just a few years before his death.
John Rogan – 8 ft 9 in (2 m 67 cm)
John William “Bud” Rogan is the second tallest person in recorded history, and the tallest of African heritage, standing at 8 ft 9 in. Rogan, who was born in Tennessee in 1868, experienced a dramatic growth spurt when he was 13 years old. Rogan’s massive size caused him to develop severe ankylosis, a condition in which the joints become stiff owing to inflammation. It was incredibly difficult for him to place his weight on his feet as a result of this. Rogan could move around with crutches at first, but by 1882 he couldn’t stand or walk at all. He was frequently hauled around in a goat cart that he made himself, and he was always the center of attention. Due to his illness, Rogan found it difficult to work.
Robert Wadlow – 8 ft 11 in (2 m 72 cm)
Robert Wadlow, dubbed “The Giant of Illinois,” stands at the top of our list. Wadlow is the tallest confirmed human to have ever lived, standing at a height of 8 ft 11 in. He was born in Alton, Illinois, in 1918, and his pituitary gland enlargement caused him to create massive levels of human growth hormone. Wadlow’s height grew steadily throughout his life as a result of this disease. He was already 6 ft 2 in tall and weighed 169 pounds when he was eight years old (77 kg). The Illinois resident was so enormous that he required a special desk at school. This type of hormonal imbalance had no cure at the time, according to doctors. Wadlow suffered from a variety of diseases as a result of his unconventional lifestyle.

Conclusion
What is your height? That is a question that many children ask each other from the first moments they encounter at school. One way we assess each other is by measuring our height. As children grow, parents and doctors consider height as one indicator of whether or not they are developing normally. Parents proudly record their children’s height on the back of a door, marking each inch as a new achievement. Growing taller is something that children look forward to. For some children, growing taller means being able to ride that one particular ride at their favourite amusement park. Others gain height in order to improve their performance in their favourite sport. Others may like to be taller solely to make reaching the cookies simpler.
