Take a Screenshot on Your Mac


You can capture an entire screen, a window, or just a portion of the screen.

How to take screenshots on Mac

If you want to take a screenshot Press and hold these three keys at the same time: Shift, Command, and 3.

If you see a thumbnail in the corner of the screen Click to edit the screenshot. Or wait for the screenshot to save to your desktop.

To capture a portion of the screen

Press and hold these three keys at the same time: Shift, Command, and 4.

Drag the crosshair. To select the screen area to record. To move the selection, press and hold How to Screenshot on Mac the Space bar while dragging. To cancel taking a screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.

To take a screenshot Let go of your mouse or trackpad button.

Open the window or menu you want to save.

Press and hold these three keys at the same time: Shift, Command, 4, and the Space bar. The pointer changes to a camera icon. To cancel taking a screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.

Click on the window or menu to save the image. To avoid window shadows attached to the screenshot, hold down the Option key while clicking.
