Styrofoam And Bleach

Styrofoam And Bleach

I bleached a styrofoam cup with a piece of T-shirt and it got really hot. What is the reason for this? 3

Does bleach react with styrofoam and heat? Or am I forgetting something? I tried searching online (I searched everything: styrofoam and bleach, styrofoam and bleach, etc.), but I couldn't find anything.

Bleach is NaClO and other catalysts and oxidizing agents, polystyrene is C and H, if you add bleach catalyst with oxidizing agent (NaClO is one) it produces H2O and CO2 and polystyrene basically burns slowly. While NaClO produces E salts.

* The oxidizing agent in the bleach provides oxygen for the reaction.

It worked for me, but maybe I mixed a small ton of hydrogen peroxide with bleach in a styrofoam cup while trying to clean my sink faucet spray.
