  1. Competitive intelligence, formulas, information systems, patents, policies, processes, etc., that result from the products or systems the firm has created over time. One of the three types of intellectual capital (the other two are customer capital and human capital), it does not reside in the heads of the employees and remains with the organization even when they leave.
