Advertising scheduling technique in which two different ads for the same product (or the advertiser) are run differently to compare the effectiveness of the different advertisement copy. The ads may be published in the (1) alternate issues of the same newspaper or magazine, or (2) in the same issue but divided into two parts such that no one reader in the same geographical area receives both advertisements.
