How to clean the GE Spectra oven
- Remove everything from the oven, including the racks, drainer, foil, and cooking grates.
- Close and lock the oven door.
- Put the oven on selvrens and let it rest for four hours. Let the oven rest for at least an hour or until it has cooled completely.

CLEANING THE OVEN USING THE SLEEP METHOD
The aim is to use the self-cleaning function a maximum of five times a year or only when the oven is very dirty. Plan well the days before or after your vacation or other occasions when you know you will need the stove so that mistakes don’t affect your accommodation obligations.
The self-cleaning cycle cleans the entire interior of the oven, including the glass door. The process can take two to four hours. At the end of the cycle, wait for the oven to cool down. All dirt is heated to ash, which can be removed with a damp cloth.
Like self-cleaning ovens, a steam-clean oven uses heat. The difference, however, is that water is added to generate steam and soften leftovers in the oven cavity. Steam cleaning is faster than the self-cleaning cycle and typically takes about 30 minutes. The best time to use a steam cleaner is after small food spills.

Press Cancel or Clear / Stop to stop the cycle on ERC models. To turn off the oven on models with a mechanical timer, turn the stop button to the current time. If the self-cleaning cycle still does not stop, switch off the room or the wall heater using the main switch or fuse box.

Upon start-up, the oven heats up to about 1000 degrees and a locking mechanism keeps the door locked until the cycle is complete and the oven cools down. You will get a fine ash that can be removed with a damp sponge. The only safe surfaces for self-cleaning are enamelled surfaces.
