Definition of Semideviation:

  1. A statistical tool derived from the square root of a semi variance. Semideviation represents the standard deviation of the returns that are lower than the mean return. Note that semideviation and standard deviation are calculated the same way, but the returns used in semideviation calculation are those that fall below the mean return.
