How to get your PayPal API username, password and signature
- Log into your PayPal business account.
- Click the My Account tab.
- Click the Profile tab.
- Under Account Information, click Get API Credentials.
- Under Option 1, click Configure PayPal API Credentials and Permissions.
- Click Get API Credentials.
When PayPal refers to your PayPal ID, it means the email address you use to log in. This is usually your default email address and in most cases the oldest email address you have added to your account.

We do not use PayPal account numbers. Your email address registered in your PayPal account will be used as your account number. When someone wants to send you a payment, all they need is their email address, so they don’t need an account number.
The money moves automatically.
You can change your account name if it is misspelled or if you have legitimately changed your name. It is not possible to change your account name to another personal name.
Fees for Receiving Money Through PayPal
PayPal is mostly secure when you use it to send money. Nothing is completely free - errors and data breaches are possible everywhere. But PayPal is a legitimate company with enough security and consumer protection to keep you relatively safe online.
But when someone buys your work online and deposits it into your personal PayPal account, your real name will appear in the transaction details. You will still need to tell PayPal your real name, but customers will only see your company name.
PayPal can only confirm your name after entering the required information, so PayPal must confirm this with your bank account. A person shouldn’t use a fake name which is against PayPal’s policies, but people always do.
They don’t have the authority to withdraw funds or do anything else with your bank account. If they withdraw something without your permission, contact your bank and you will likely need to submit a cancellation form.
