Electronic commerce technical specification, proposed jointly by Checkfree, Intel, and Microsoft, that uses open standards for data formatting (SGML), internet connectivity (TCP/IP and HTTP) and security (SSP). OPX enables privacy and message integrity when communicating financial information over internet, but lacks authentication and authorization capabilities which may be provided by third-party vendors.
