Including high quality, eye catching and unique images in your web design is more important than ever.
Having images in strategic places on your website will play a leading role in acting as an emotional agent, and will visually emphasize what you are trying to convey. More often than not, it is an image and its relevance and quality that make us want to read the associated text. In short, it is the images you use that make your website work.
Why We Need Photo Editors
Image editing tools will help you to beautify and add special touches to your photos. They are available free in the form of software that can be used online. This makes it very easy and convenient to use, plus you have the added advantage of using your favorite photo editor from any location. Edit your photos right in your browser, without installing or downloading programs to your computer.
Before and after picture using one of the best online photo editors.
There are many reasons why you want to use an online photo editor. Maybe you simply can’t afford an expensive application like Adobe Premier or you don’t want to use a desktop program like Photoshop. Maybe you are on a public computer at the library that doesn’t have the software you need because you’re own computer is not available at the moment, for some reason or another.
Web based applications like online photo editors have grown in popularity over the last few years. The reasons are quite simple, they are readily available, convenient and don’t bog down your computer. As long as you have a web browser and an internet connection you can edit your photos.
To get started you simply upload your photo and click on the different tabs to edit the photo or add effects. When you’re done you can share the edited photo on your favorite social media site or download it to your hard drive to use in your web design or blog articles. Here are three of my favorite free online photo editors.
FotoFlexer – Online Image Editor
This is a powerful online photo editor that can remove blemishes, change hair and skin color, morph photos, remove red eye and animate your photos. FotoFlexer was founded by Arbor Labs, a team of graduate students and alumni from the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology, University of California at Berkeley (and just one MIT/Stanford alum too).
I have used this free online photo editing tool many times and like ‘playing’ around with the different image and text effects. The ‘after’ picture of me was created with FotoFlexer.
iPiccy – Innovative Online Photo Editor
An easy program that provides you with the necessary features for editing your images. You can edit pictures, apply beautiful photo effects, add text and even paint! iPiccy was created by Picnik fans to bring you all the power of Piknik after its closure! It has almost all the tools, fonts and stickers like in the original photo editor.
The one feature that makes this editor great is in the blender option, this lets you overlap texts, images and even tweak their opacity and blend mode.
PicMonkey – Basic Photo Editor
The basic edition of PicMonkey is very easy to use with a simple and clean interface. You can edit, rotate, touch up, create overlays and add effects and textures to your images. PicMonkey was created by a small team of experienced professionals who believe their greatest competition is their last release. Well, you be the judge of that.
With this free online program you can also create fun greeting cards to send to your clients and create collages. Keep in mind that some of the editing options are only available if you upgrade to a paid subscription.
Of course there are many other online photo editors to choose from, I outlined the three that I use on a regular basis, when I am editing my stock photography. Which editor is right for you depends on your personal preference and what you want to do with your images.
An eye-catching, unique and well placed image will elicit an emotion from you visitor (curiosity, sympathy, anger, etc.) and will go a long way in improving your visitors user experience and improve the conversation ratio and profitability of your website.
