## No2cl Lewis Structure

Why does NO2Cl have a double bond with oxygen and nitrogen in the Lewis structure? ۔

I have a chemistry test and I can't understand why NO2Cl (nitrile chloride) has a double bond of oxygen instead of nitrogen in the highly understandable Lewis structure. However, they are all bytes, so I'm not sure why it makes more sense to add a double bond to one of the oxygen.

update

Sorry, found out what the central atom is, I mean oxygen, not chlorine. my mistake...

Would you like to know why nitrogen doubles with oxygen instead of chloride? This is because oxygen preferably has a double bond. No chlorine.

Double bonds are mainly made up of C, N, O and S atoms, triple bonds are mainly made up of C and N atoms.

N = 1s2 2s2 2p3 So N has only 3 valences to complete the byte N. N forms 3 bonds. Of oxygen

At your own risk. Nitrogen and oxygen have a double bond between them.

Nitrogen can be minor or pentavalent.

O = NOCl or O = N = O

N = 1s2 2s2 2p3 So N has only 3 valences to complete its bytes N forms 3 bonds .... O = NO N forms a double bond with the first oxygen and 1 valence remains in N, So it is a single bond with the other. Of oxygen

At your own risk. Nitrogen and oxygen have a double bond between them.

Nitrogen can be trivalent or pentavalent.
