Non-profit organization that oversees the development and distribution of open source products offered under the Mozilla branding. The Mozilla Foundations most popular product is Firefox, which is the second most used internet browser. The organization was initially founded in 1998 by Netscape to oversee the development of Mozilla Application Suite. The organization ventured out on its own in 2003 after Netscape discontinued development of the application suite. The organization is publicly funded and is able to operate under a tax-exempt status.
