Limit Order

Limit Order,

What is The Meaning of Limit Order?

A limit order is a type of order to buy or sell securities at a specific price or better. In the case of a limit purchase order, the order is executed only at or below the threshold price, whereas in the case of a threshold order, the order is only at or above the threshold price. This supply allows traders to gain more control over the prices with which they trade. When using a limited purchase order, the investor may be persuaded to pay this price or less. Even with the guaranteed price, the order will not be executed and the security price will be binding only if the terms of the order are met. If the asset does not reach a certain value, the order will not be executed and investors may lose trading opportunities.

  • A limit order guarantees that an order at a certain price level or higher will be executed.
  • However, there is no guarantee that the limit orders will be complied with.
  • Limited orders control the cost of execution, but they can lead to lost opportunities in rapidly changing market conditions.
  • Limit orders can be used in conjunction with stop orders to avoid large losses.

Definition of Limit Order: An order that sets a specific price (nominal price) that the buyer will pay is the highest that the seller wants to receive. Buyers charge below the threshold and sellers charge above the threshold. This can be a daily order or terms and conditions (cancellation voucher). If no price is provided, the order is an industry standard order.
