Tom Holland Billy Elliot

Tom Holland’s last appearance as Billy in the London creation of Billy Elliot the Musical was on Saturday, May 29, 2010, only days before his fourteenth birthday celebration and after 21 months in the role.

Tom, who retired on the London stage as Senior Billy, was born in Kingston, England, on June 1, 1996. He started dancing Saturday afternoons in a hip hop class at a studio called Nifty Feet in Wimbledon. He was discovered at a dance show in Richmond at the age of 10 by Billy Elliot talent scouts who were constantly combing the country searching for potential Billys.

Until then, Tom’s focus was on street dance and acrobatics. While those leading the auditions loved how good he was at these skills and for his open-minded personality and stage presence, they suggested that he take ballet classes to be a suitable candidate for the leading role of Billy in that movie.

But he took an unusual path to finally achieve his goal of being Billy Elliot. On June 28, 2008, Tom made his West End debut - not as Billy, but as Billy’s best friend, Michael. It wasn’t until September 8, 2008, that Tom finally made his debut as Billy.
