# Is Sugar a Compound?

Weight gain is caused by eating too many calories. Processed meals (which often contain a lot of sugar but also a lot of other toxic components) are the ideal combination to cause overeating (and thus weight gain) and inflammation, but this doesn’t make “sugar” a bad word in and of itself (a definition of what is meant by sugar would help here).
