OnlyFans is a London-based content-sharing [platform](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-to-see-onlyfans-without-paying/68158). It was founded by Timothy Stokely and had no official mobile apps. Creators can use it to charge users for access to their content, including videos, photos, and even one-on-one video chats. It’s a common theme in the world of adult film and television. [Onlyfans](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-to-subscribe-on-onlyfans/118324) was called "the paywall of adult content " by the New York Times in an article published at the beginning of 2019 that claimed the service had revolutionized the sex industry. However, it won’t be known for that long. ### OnlyFans’ Content Videos, photos, direct messages, and status updates are the most common types of [content](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/only-fans-stock/102046) on OnlyFans, but there are other forms as well. To interact with their followers, creators need only type a message into their keyboard and post it to their OnlyFans page. Adult [entertainers](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-to-see-onlyfans-without-paying/68158) and sex workers make up around 70% to 80% of OnlyFans’ content, according to estimates. Mildly flirtatious to X-rated material can all be found on this site. The rest of the platform’s content is free of any blemishes. Among the many videos you’ll find here are [performances](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-to-subscribe-on-onlyfans/118324) by celebrities and music videos from musicians and fitness instructors, as well as videos from journalists and filmmakers. While Duke and Jones use OnlyFans to promote their work while supporting the COVID-19 charities, American rapper [Swae Lee](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/only-fans-stock/102046) and The Plastic Boy both use OnlyFans to share how-to guides for their respective beauty routines. However, not all OnlyFans members are well-known celebrities; anyone can sign up for a free [membership](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-to-see-onlyfans-without-paying/68158). Look around, and you’ll find plenty of artists to support. Non-sexual content is becoming more [mainstream](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-to-see-onlyfans-without-paying/68158), as OnlyFans has also launched an SFW-only app, OnlyFans TV (OFTV). TV does away with the need for a paid subscription to provide open access to all users. There are over 800 videos on OFTV so far, coming from over 100 different creators. Everything from exercise to vlogs to fashion to cooking to [meditation](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-to-subscribe-on-onlyfans/118324) can be found in the videos on the old site. > **Summary:** OnlyFans allows users to interact with their followers via various mediums. As the company explained in the statement, we must evolve our content guidelines to maintain a welcoming community for creators and fans. The service is unavailable on mobile app platforms such as iOS or Android because OnlyFans has hosted X-rated content. [An Axios](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-to-see-onlyfans-without-paying/68158) report stated that OnlyFans has struggled to find outside investors because it allows content creators to post explicit images. Perhaps the adult content issue was too much for app stores and investors to overcome. If this is the case, [OnlyFans](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/only-fans-stock/102046)’ belief that it needed to “clean up” to secure funding is understandable. ### How to Join Onlyfans? Underage users have been able to create an account using other people’s IDs, which suggests that the age verification system is not robust enough.
