How to Keep Your New Year’s Weight Loss Resolution from Breaking?

Losing weight is one of the most commonly made and broken new year’s resolutions. Find out how to materialize your plan in weight loss clinic

It’s the fag end of the year and spirits are high! Many of us pledge to lose weight & spend the next year by giving more care and attention to our body. While there isn’t any nobler new year’s resolution, people fail to keep it from breaking. Here’s Dietitian Priya Mittal sharing a few tips to make sure that your resolution for better health doesn’t break.

Pick achievable & sustainable targets

The necessity to choose a realistic target needs to be the first priority if you are really motivated to pick weight loss as your new year’s resolution. You know your body and lifestyle better than anyone so don’t set yourself an impossible task. For example, don’t commit to yourself lose beyond its organically healthy for the body.

According to the US’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the range of lost weight in a healthy way varies between 4 to 8 pounds a month, roughly 1.8 to 3.6 kilos. You may be made to believe that harsh diet & magic foods regime will increase this number fascinatingly but, in reality, it will either leave you hungry or plant unhealthy habits in you leading you to regain the weight.

Decent amount of regular exercise & corrected lifestyle along with a healthy diet regime will help you reduce weight in a proper and sustainable manner.

There’s no shortcut to weight loss:

Typically, when you pick new year’s resolution, you wish to see immediate results. To lose weight quickly, people tend to pick up harsh diet regimes, sometimes even at the cost of keeping the body deprived of the necessary nutrients. Some may see a drop in the bodyweight but maintaining such a diet regime is generally not sustainable.

It is certain that the weight lost through a tough diet regime will come back once the regime is broken. Moreover, not providing the body with the required nutrients in proper quantity will cause fatigue and may lead to other critical health issues.

There is no shortcut to lose unwanted body weight. Weight loss is a systematic process that needs to be followed diligently.

Healthy eating habits will be required to be adopted. Consuming of seasonal fruits daily, drinking more water and resisting your craving being prime need to be prioritized. For example, including more greens in the diet, consuming more protein and reducing the quantity of fat, sugar and salt. Keeping the portion size in check is equally important as over-eating directly causes obesity.

Plan your weight loss journey:

Since weight loss is a long-term goal, the journey needs to be planned well. Remember, food plays the most critical role in losing weight. Striking the current balance among the nutrients that are consumed holds the key. You will need to figure out the key sources of your ‘bad fat’ consumption and eliminated them or at least reduce them below the alarming level.

The advice of a professional dietitian will be extremely handy here as he/she will be able to help you identify foods with greater protein, lesser fat & appropriate carbohydrate content.

When you make a weight loss plan, make sure to leave room for daily physical exercise which can be brisk walking for 30 minutes every day. Keeping the goals of your weight loss written on a place which is easily visible will always keep reminding you of your targets and help you stay motivated.

Keep a tab on your progress:

Understanding from where you stayed and analysing the current condition is basic for any plan to succeed. Do the same when it comes to your weight loss plan. Reflect on your journey once in a while to figure out how much weight you have lost thus far. Treat yourself if your plan is working well.

However, don’t hesitate to get in touch with your dietitian if you see no change in your body. The role of your dietitian is not only to prescribe a customized diet to you but also bring necessary changes in the diet regime if it doesn’t show result.

If you have started your weight loss journey very recently, say a month, you may not see a big physical change but your body is certain to feel better.

Irrespective of this being your first attempt to lose weight or not, keeping these tips in mind will help you immensely to witness a change in your body. Follow these tips to step into a healthy lifestyle and enjoy life to the fullest.
