How many ounces are there in a gallon? It is my understanding that “oz” stands for “ounce,” a unit of mass (although it is commonly used to refer to a unit of weight). Despite being a volume measurement, a gallon is most frequently used to measure liquids. Similarly, we would need to know the substance’s thickness in order to respond to the question. Currently, if you had used “fl oz,” “fl. oz,” or “oz. fl,” you would have been using an abbreviation for liquid ounces, which are a measure of volume. I assumed that you meant liquid ounces. We, despite everything, have an issue. What definitions would we say we are utilizing for gallons and liquid ounces? Eight superb pints, each containing 20 ounces of royal liquid, make up a supreme gallon, making a total of 160 ounces of royal liquid in a gallon. There are 128 US standard liquid ounces in a US fluid gallon because there are 8 US pints, each containing 16 US standard liquid ounces. A US dry gallon exists as well, having 8 US dry pints. A US fluid gallon is approximately 16.36% smaller than this gallon. Dry pints aren’t divided into liquid ounces, in my opinion. There is also a US food naming liquid ounce, which is around 1.44% larger than the US standard liquid ounce, to further confuse issues with relation to food marking. --- _[View the full topic](https://howtodiscuss.com/t/how-many-ounces-in-a-half-gallon/8206)._
