To answer your question, if you are going 100km / h, it will take 36 seconds to go one mile.
Let’s say you run 100 miles and it takes an hour and a half. Your average speed will then be 100 miles divided by 1.5 hours, or 66.67 mph. If you are calculating miles per hour for distances of a few minutes, you are converting the number of minutes to fractions of an hour.
