How do you write 1.5 as a fraction?

          %1. 5%%color(white)(xX)=1 1/2% (as a reduced mixed fraction)or%color(white)(xX)=3/2% (as a reduced improper fraction)                                    <h4 class=answerHeader>Explanation:</h4>                                      <mathjax>%1. 5 = 1. 5/1. 0 = 15/10 = (cancel(15)^3)/(cancel(10)_2)=3/2= 1 + 1/2%</mathjax>

We know that (1÷10)=0.1…(1÷100)=0.01 …etc and vice versa
This means that one decimal place is equal to one by tenth and two decimal place is equal to one by handreth etc .
Now
1.5 have one decimal place so
1.5=15÷10
In both 5 is common factor so cancel it and we get that
1.5=3÷2

Its a very simple method to convert decimal into fraction.

As we know fraction is written as Part/whole or numerator/denominator. So to convert decimal into fraction;

• write a given number as numerator e.g. in the given example 15will be a numerator.
• Now coming to denominator, write 1 and count how many digits are to right of decimal in a given question. In our example we have only one digit. So, we will add one zero with the 1.
Thus, final answer will be 15/10
