Most cabinets are generally 24 inches deep, but can be up to 18 or even 12 inches deep. The height also depends on the application, but the standard height usually does not exceed 72 inches. The width varies from 24 inches to over 96 inches.
It is recommended to install cabinets with a depth of 660-670 mm (total) from the rear wall to the front of the upper groove, this is considered the optimal depth for sliding doors. The minimum depth must not be less than 610 mm in total. Below this depth, normal use will be affected.
For storage, measure the depth from the back wall to the outside of the side walls. Measure on both sides. See Figure 3. For the cabinet light, measure the interior space between the front and back walls on both sides of the door.
Standard dimensions The standard depth of a cabinet is 530 mm (600 mm including the wall), a cabinet is a little smaller. Built-in wardrobes are often limited to the size of the room and the general layout of the house.

The standard minimum depth for a cabinet is 24 “, but a cabinet designed to hold coats or other bulky hanging items may require a depth of 28”. A closet less than 22 inches deep is not deep enough for hanging clothes.
The first step is to calculate the amount of work in square feet (ft²). This is done by multiplying the height and width of each component (on the front). If your closet is 5 feet wide by 2 feet tall, the total furniture area is 7 feet by 5 feet or 35 square feet.
A typical cabinet is approximately 24 inches deep. A cabinet should be at least 36-48 inches deep. The width of the closet is ideally half the width of the room, if not more. A standard 12 by 12 bedroom bedroom would ideally have a six foot wide by 48 inch deep wardrobe.
Tip: Shelf widths in 30cm increments are best, as folded clothes are 30cm thick on average and 14cm deep.

A walk-in closet can also reduce the amount of floor space your closet steals from your bedroom just because you don’t use exterior doors. You can also use a lot of storage space without compromising the style of your bedroom, without an impressive built-in tower above your bed.
The standard rail height for a single wardrobe rail is 60 inches, a height that provides ample floor space for hanging clothes. When installing double poles, hang the top bar 80 “from the floor and the bottom bar 40” from the floor. Leave at least 3 feet of space between the two poles.
Walk-in closets should be at least three feet wide and four feet deep. With these minimum dimensions, the cabinet offers space for shelves and cabinets on a side wall and rear wall.
Step 1 - The minimum recommended internal depth is 480mm if the wardrobe is used for hanging clothes. However, laundry and other lockers can be shallower.
Build standards offer 600mm of storage, but this wastes space. Tip: Drawers for shoes, underwear, and shelves work well between 300 and 380mm deep, so you can walk up to 300mm in the next room compared to a standard 600mm closet.
The depth of a shoe cabinet should obviously take into account and correspond to the length of the shoe. A depth of 13 inches (33cm) is suitable for almost any user as nothing else is available unless you need to store shoe boxes in place of the shoes themselves.
