Food Beginning With U
Urchins or Uni
Sea urchins, which are delicious, are all the rage these days. The Uni, or the urchin’s scrotum, is the only part that can be eaten (reproductive glands). Uni is a common ingredient in Japanese food, and most sushi bars carry it.
Uni tastes fresh and salty and has a strong umami taste. Each bite makes it melt in your mouth. The texture is smooth and creamy, like salmon roe. Uni can be served with a bed of rice, used as a topping for nigiri sushi, or mixed with nori seaweed in a Japanese-style pasta dish.
There is a lot of protein in urchins. Fiber, vitamins A and E, calcium, and iodine are all found in this food. They also have almost no fat.
