Definition of Flexography:

  1. A rotary relief printing method using rubber or plastic plates and fluid inks or dyes for printing on fabrics and impervious materials such as plastics, as well as on paper.

  2. Commercial printing method in which resilient photo-polymer printing plates are used like rubber stamps to transfer fast-drying inks to roll-fed paper or other material. Flexography is suitable primarily for printing labels, cartons, and flexible packaging, but is unsuitable for fine printing such as reproduction of color photographs. See also gravure printing.
