Financial Reinsurance Definition:
Insurance contracts in which the return on investment is usually included in the price and the risk that is transmitted is usually limited. Contracts often have a maturity of 3 or 5 years and the price is the expected current value of future losses, even if these contracts are terminated with an additional risk factor.
Agreements last for many years and for the entire term of this agreement there is a global re-insurance limit. Premiums correspond to the final net loss and are discounted at the net current price so that the policyholder pays all losses within a specified period and returns the insurance and investment income. The agreement may limit the settlement of claimants to a certain level and amount in order to reduce the temporary risk to the insurance company and will include a conversion clause at the end of the coverage period.
