  1. Four millimeter wide magnetic tape which can store up to four gigabytes (GB) of data per cassette by using helical scan recording. Replaced in early 1990s by half-inch wide digital linear tape (DLT) that can store up to 35 gigabytes per cassette by using longitudinal recording.
