Definition of Curbs:

  1. Lead (a dog being walked) near the curb to urinate or defecate, in order to avoid soiling buildings, pavements, etc.

  2. Variant spelling of kerb.

  3. A swelling on the back of a horses hock, caused by spraining a ligament.

  4. Restrain or keep in check.

  5. Temporary trading restrictions imposed by an exchange to even out dramatic price swings of a volatile market. Curbs are typically triggered by a large drop in the broader market and may include a complete halt in trading. In some situations, the restrictions may prohibit program trading or limit acceptable trades to those placed only on an uptick. See Circuit Breaker; Trading Halt.

  6. A check or restraint on something.

  7. A type of bit with a strap or chain attached which passes under a horses lower jaw, used as a check.
