Most full home movies should be burned to a DVD-R or DVD-RW. However, if you just want to carry the data file yourself and don’t want to make the movie playable on a DVD player, you can easily burn a small movie to CDR.
A CDR is an external storage device used to store files for backup or playback. Unlike a CDRW, anything that has been burned or written to a CDR cannot be edited or manipulated. Burning is the process of writing files to a storage medium. Burn video to your CDR in just a few simple steps.
Burn multiple files to CDR When finished, insert the CDR into your optical drive, open the CDR folder, add more files and select the Burn to disc option. In Windows 10, files are automatically burned to disc after adding them to the CDR folder. This isn’t the Burn to Disc option you need to click on.

DVD Burner Options Tab: This tab allows you to select options for recording speed, simulation, and flame retardant disc protection. After making the above settings, you can click the Burn Now button and the creative slideshow will be burned to DVD + R / RW, DVD R / RW, CDR or CDRW.
cdr. CD recording media. CDRs are blank CDs that can store data written by a CD burner. The word recordable is used because CDR is often used to record audio that can be played by most CD players.
Format CDR or CDRW in Windows 10
Use CDRs to create audio CDs that will work in most stereos. Use a CDR disc to create a CD of MP3 files that can be played on your computer or MP3 CD player. Some MP3 players can also play CDRWs. If your computer has a DVD burner, you can burn a playlist to a DVDR or DVD-RW disc.
As with all optical storage media using phase change technology, there is a limit to how often the recording layer of a CDRW disc can be reliably switched between its crystalline and amorphous states. Currently, CDRW discs can be overwritten about 1000 times.
The idea behind a CDRW is that you can use the disc as an additional drive. If you have the images on a CDR and the disc is closed digitally after loading, you cannot add anything to that disc. So there is no way to accidentally overwrite your precious photos (or other data).
Writable compact discs (CDR) and writable compact discs (CDRW) are discs used for archiving with personal computers. The main difference between a CDR and a CDRW is that the CDR can only be recorded once, while a CDRW, such as a hard drive, can be recorded multiple times.
