Alliance

Alliance,

Definition of Alliance:

  1. Combining two or more companies into one organizational unit (e.g., a joint venture) in which each company retains its individual identity and internal control. The goals of the Alliance are to (1) achieve common strategic goals, (2) reduce risk while increasing rewards and (3) use resources. Because alliances are not alliances or mergers, they need new methods of control and new management skills.

  2. Unions or associations formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations.
